I felt like i couldn't BUT put these up.... The views in the Alps were astounding, and I couldn't capture the fantastic light with my little digital camera, but I tried my best!

So over the past week, I've been going crazy photocopying my hand... I've changed the light on some, and used markers on my hands, and also used paint. These are a few of what I think are the most successful ones... enjoy!

With these I had cling film on the scanner, and then paint and Vaseline on my hand. The Vaseline allowed way more movement, and as well produces a weird effect with the prints. Some of the traces of movement from previous prints can be seen on the later prints because of the Vaseline. (For example, there are a load of extra lines on the second and third prints here, because they were taken later) 

After seeing the unpredictability of the paint I decided to pare my idea back a bit, and just use markers to draw on my hand. I simplified it further by just drawing straight lines all over my hand. And this simplicity proved to be more successful than I had anticipated... It added another dimension to the images which made them even more interesting..... 

For these images I used my finger to paint in acrylic. I found it really difficult to be accurate, but i still enjoyed the sketchy, unfocused quality of the paintings.

For this piece i had dragged my fingers down a sheet of white paper with red and balck ink. I then cut up the page  into squares and arranged them. I don't really like the effect, it's a bit messy....

I used a viewfinder for this piece on the cast of my hand that i had already made. I decided to draw this on a really big scale so i stuck four A1 sheets together. I used a black markers and charcoal. I really enjoyed drawing on such a big scale, and I think the abstraction of this particular part of the hand is interesting.

                                                                                                  I liked the idea of sliding my hand on the photocopier, and decided to begin applying it to paint. This is my frist attempt, and I like the way the colours mixed as I slid my hand down the page.

With these I used my finger to paint, dragging it in the one on the right, and finger printing on the left..... The right one is strangely eerie, yet the one on the left is more delicate. I used a stencil of the bones in my hand for these.

I used the crease of my fist to create the image on the left, and stuck with the Red/Black theme that was in my photocopied hands previously. In the left image I used my finger print. I think the graduation of colour is succesful and the asymmetric quality of the prints work well also. The acrylic paint worked well also because it gave a textured quality to the pieces.

For these pictures I decided to paint my hands. I think the effect of the paint on the skin is interesting. It shows up the lines and contours oft he hand really well. I stayed with the colour theme of red and black, as they work really well together.

With these photocopies I really wanted to move the hand around and abstract it. I liked that the colour of the nails worked really well with the background colour of the photocopier. The fingers seem reflected in some pieces, and I love the interlocking fingers and the effect I got when I moved them too. I enjoyed trying to squash as many hands as I could onto the photocopier and I think the result is visually interesting. I slid the back of my fingers down, and the dots and broken line created works really well becasue of the colours picked up in it.

I had tried to photocopy my hands before, but didn't try it to it's full extent.... so I decided to go back and try it again. I really experimented this time, and really enjoyed the results. I was able to contort my hand just by moving it around when the photocopier was going. i tried closing my fist, and twisting my hand the full 360 degrees. I also dragged my fingers along with the light on the photocopier as it was moving.
